Six fire departments respond to Rantoul house fire

RANTOUL, Ill. (WCIA) — The Rantoul Fire Department responded to a house engulfed in flames Friday night.

At approximately 8 p.m., the Rantoul Fire Department responded to the report of a house fire at 2951 County Road 1900 E. As of 10:29 p.m., the fire was put out, but the department said it would continue to smolder for some time.

The department has asked people to stay away from the structure for their own safety.

On scene, the Rantoul fire department was assisted by the following agencies:

  • Thomasboro Fire Protection District
  • Ludlow Fire Protection District
  • Gifford Fire Protection District
  • Sangamon Valley Fire Protection District
  • St. Joe Fire Protection District
