CNN's Kaitlan Collins can't stop laughing over Pentagon leak drama

During a recent segment on CNN, Kaitlan Collins faced a challenge in staying composed while discussing the Pentagon’s latest leak controversy.

As she reported on Joe Kasper’s departure as Pentagon Chief of Staff, the 33-year-old anchor struggled to maintain her demeanor after off-screen laughter interrupted the broadcast.

Attempting to recover, Collins paused, offered a quick ‘excuse me,’ and tried to press on with the segment.

However, a second off-camera chuckle followed, testing the seasoned anchor’s poise even further.

Despite the unexpected distraction, Collins kept a smile on her face and carried on with the report, mentioning, ‘We have received information from a source tonight, and we will continue to monitor this developing story closely at the Pentagon,’ all the while trying to hold back her own laughter.

The production team then quickly cut to a commercial break, leaving viewers to wonder about the source of the unexpected amusement.

The light-hearted interruption came during a serious discussion on changes in Pentagon leadership, including Kasper’s reassignment and the administrative leave of three other Department of Defense appointees amid an investigation into unauthorized information leaks.

The moment unfolded just after Collins wrapped up interviews with Axios reporter Alex Isenstadt and CNN political analyst Seung Min Kim.

Despite her best efforts to maintain professionalism, the unexpected laughter briefly disrupted the flow of the broadcast.

Collins’ giggling fit comes after a verbal exchange with Donald Trump made headlines.

During the heated back-and-forth, President Trump ridiculed Collins at the White House during a meeting with President Nayib Bukele of El Salvador.

‘Let’s not start with CNN because they are just so wrong,’ Trump began, as the pair took questions from the press, where Collins was present.

After several journalists asked the president questions, Trump pointed to Collins.

‘Let’s hear the question from this very low-rated anchor at CNN,’ he said.

When Collins asked Trump about Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a man who lived in Maryland but has been deported to El Salvador, Trump asked his Attorney General Pam Bondi and his deputy chief of staff for policy Stephen Miller to respond.

Abrego Garcia, 29, was in the United States illegally from El Salvador when he was deported by the Trump administration in March, even though he had been granted legal protection from deportation by an immigration judge in 2019.

The Trump administration is adamant that he is an MS-13 gangster who has no place in America.

Trump and Bukele signaled no interest in returning the man to Maryland, even though the Supreme Court directed the Trump administration to facilitate his return.

‘How long do we have to answer this question from you?’ Trump said. ‘Why don’t you just say, isn’t it wonderful that we’re keeping criminals out of our country? Why can’t you just say that?’

Collins asked a follow up, asking if Trump would abide by the ruling, he further taunted her network.

‘Why do you go over and over, that’s why no one watches you anymore, you have no credibility,’ Trump said.

President Bukele marveled at Trump’s rapid turnaround of border enforcement on the Southern border of the United States since succeeding President Joe Biden in January.

He questioned Trump why the news media in the United States did not report the good numbers on the border more often.

Trump said there was a ‘99.1 percent’ border enforcement at the southern border and complained that the media had no interest in reporting the good news.

‘Well they get out, but the fake news you know like CNN over here doesn’t want to put them out because they don’t like putting out good numbers, because I think they hate our country actually,’ Trump continued.

CNN’s Dana Bash reacted to the president’s comment on her afternoon show on Monday.

‘CNN does not hate our country, that should go without saying,’ Bash said, dismissing his remarks as a ‘rhetorical device.’

Collins recently spoke about her job at CNN in a feature with Vanity Fair, describing herself as a ‘joyful warrior’ despite the president’s verbal disparaging at the White House.

She dismissed Trump’s criticism of her network as a ‘distraction technique’ and said the job was all-encompassing.

‘There are no days off. You can’t have a chill Friday. If you ever think it’s going to be chill, it’s guaranteed to not be,’ she said.

Collins appeared to find a moment of relaxation on Sunday, however, as she celebrated the conclusion of the Masters Golf Tournament by sipping a drink at the Hudson Hound in New York.

‘Green jacket Sunday,’ she wrote, sharing the image on her Instagram account.
