Actress Darryl Hannah claims hubby Neil Young was harassed by Trump admin while applying for citizenship: report

During a recent interview, actress Darryl Hannah stated that the initial Trump administration used tactics to cause problems for her husband Neil Young, a famous musician from Canada, as he was seeking US citizenship.

The “Splash” actress told the BBC that Young, now a dual Canadian-American citizen, went through a bureaucratic ordeal during the first Trump administration when attempting to secure an American passport.

“They tried every trick in the book to mess him up, and made him keep coming back to be re-interviewed and re-interviewed. It’s ridiculous [because] he’s been living in America and paying taxes here since he was in his 20s,” Hannah, 64, told the outlet.

“They’ve been detaining people who have green cards or visas — which is hideous and horrifying — but they have not, so far, been refusing to let American citizens back in the country, so I don’t think that’s going to happen,” claimed “The Pope of Greenwich Village” star in the interview of current Trump policies.

Young has been a vociferous critic of the president — even suing Trump in 2020 to try and stop the campaigner in chief from playing the 1991 hit “Keep on Rockin’ in the Free World” at political rallies.

Months later, Young would quietly drop that lawsuit — but continues to strike a combative chord in the second term Trump administration.

“If I talk about Donald J Trump, I may be one of those returning to America who is barred or put in jail to sleep on a cement floor with an aluminum blanket,” the “Old Man” singer, 79, recently wrote on his website, according to the BBC.

The former member of “Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young” has also had public tiffs with Spotify — telling employees of the music app to get out “before it eats your soul” due to the platforming of Joe Rogan.

Young pulled his catalogue from Spotify in 2022, but returned the tracks to the app in 2024.

Neil Young is now set to headline the Glastonbury music festival in June after previously announcing he was boycotting the event.

“Due to an error in the information received, I had decided to not play the Glastonbury Festival, which I always loved,” Young wrote on his website, the BBC reported.
