Family traumatized after funeral home leaves body unrecognizable

One Kansas City family says that their loved one’s bodies were not properly cared for at a funeral home.

Cherie Kidd’s niece, Princess Evans, was taken to Savory and Sons Funeral Home after she died.

Evans’ family said the experience was so bad that they had to have her remains taken elsewhere.

“It was like it was a rush thing with him,” said Kidd.

“And everything he said was just not sounding right at all. It’s like we didn’t have time to grieve.

While the death of a loved one is never an easy thing for families to go through, Kidd’s family claims the experience at Savory and Sons was nearly unimaginable.

“I’m not okay,” said Evans’ cousin Marquita Blaylock.

“It is traumatizing in from the moment, from this are beginning. It was been overwhelming. We personally had to wipe blood from her mouth just to, just to clear it up.”

That’s not all, either. Family claims that the bodies were swollen beyond recognition due to a lack of care. They’re also saying that bodies could be seen through the windows surrounded by trash.

“These bodies were in there with trash. Trash all around them. This is insane,” said Kidd.

“You couldn’t even recognize her,” Blaylock echoed.

“You had to look at her hands or her tattoo to realize who she was. It was, that was very traumatizing for me.”

Now, Evans’ family wants to see the funeral home put out of business.

“He needs jail, he needs to be sued. He’d be put out of business,” said Kidd.

“For our hurt and pain, that’s still not enough.”
