() A body found in Nevada has been identified as veterinarian Shawn Frehner, who has been missing since April 6.

Frehner’s keys, wallet and cellphone were found in his truck near a harbor at Lake Mead on April 7, and his body was found on April 18. The Clark County Coroner’s Office confirmed his identity the next day using dental records.

Shortly before he disappeared, a video went viral that showed Frehner kicking a horse in the face during an exam.

Frehner apologized for the incident, admitting he had kicked the colt but stating that he had done so to get it into a better position to breathe.

The horse’s owner complained, and Frehner was the subject of an animal cruelty investigation by Nye County deputies as a result of that complaint.

Frehner’s father told police the last time he spoke to Frehner was the morning of Apr. 6.

Frehner had previously been placed on probation by the Nevada State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners and had his license suspended for a year in 2016.

The reasons for the probation included handwriting medical records on the pack of invoices or call logs and handing out prescriptions in inappropriate containers and without verifying how much medication he was dispensing.

The cause and manner of Frehner’s death have not been released.
