Fortunately, new fans will also get to enjoy Survivor’s best seasons, which feature some of the greatest winners and the most iconic players.

Since “Boston” Rob Mariano is arguably the most iconic reality show competitor ever, it is easy to argue he is Survivor’s most famous player ever. With that in mind, it is fascinating to look at how much money “Boston” Rob made during his Survivor tenure.

How Much Money Did “Boston” Rob Mariano Make While Playing Survivor?

From the very first episode of Survivor, it has been obvious that all the players compete to win two main things. Of course, being named the Sole Survivor is an extremely valuable thing that many players have really wanted to earn. However, most of the talk about what Survivor winners get is the $1 million prize.

While it has never been a secret that the Survivor winner gets a big cash prize, most fans have no idea what the other players get. On top of that, the majority of Survivor fans have never tried to add up how much the show’s most famous players have won.

During his Survivor tenure, “Boston” Rob competed five times. Given how lengthy “Boston” Rob’s tenure on Jeff Probst’s show has been, it is fascinating to look at how much money “Boston” Rob would have reportedly won from Survivor.

While trying to figure out how much money “Boston” Rob has won from Survivor, it makes sense to look at the obvious figures first.

Since “Boston” Rob won Survivor: Redemption Island, every fan know that he won $1 million at the end of that season. However, a May 2011 CBS News article reveals that the $1 million prize isn’t the only money that “Boston” Rob won during his most successful season.

Throughout the history of Survivor, there has arguably never been a time when a single player so completely dominated a season. During Survivor: Redemption Island, “Boston” Rob not only led an alliance and pretty much dictated who would be voted out, he exerted a staggering amount of control over his allies.

When “Boston” Rob Mariano was tapped to host Deal or No Deal Island’s second season after-show, NBC published an article that chronicled his Survivor history. That article touched on the fact that during Survivor: Redemption Island, “Boston” Rob enacted the so-called buddy system. That meant that none of “Boston” Rob’s allies were allowed to be alone for long. That way, if any of his allies talked to one of his enemies, someone else would report their comments to “Boston” Rob.

After Survivor: Redemption Island, fans got to vote on the Sprint Player of the Season prize and “Boston” Rob won after getting 40% of the vote. That meant that, according to CBS News’ report, “Boston” Rob won an additional $100,000.

In December 2024, Cinema Blend published an article that covered how much Survivor players win from the show. Based on that article, the easiest thing to figure out next is how much money “Boston” Rob won from Survivor: All-Stars.

What Reality Shows Has “Boston” Rob Mariano Starred In, According to IMDb?

  • Survivor
  • Rob and Amber Get Married
  • The Amazing Race
  • Deal or No Deal Island
  • The Traitors

During Survivor: All-Stars, “Boston” Rob was the runner-up as the woman he went on to marry, Amber Brkich Mariano, won the season. According to Cinema Blend’s article, the runner-up typically gets paid $100,000. That means that for coming in second place during Survivor: All-Stars, “Boston” Rob won an additional $100,000.

During “Boston” Rob’s three other seasons, he didn’t enjoy as much success. “Boston” Rob came in 10th place during Survivor: Marquesas, 13th place during Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains, and 16th place during Survivor: Winners at War. Based on what is known about how much Survivor players get paid, it is only possible to estimate the amount of money “Boston” Rob likely won during those seasons.

According to Cinema Blend’s article, the lowest amount that a Survivor player can typically get paid is $3,500. Since the first player would get voted off during Day 3 during the early seasons when “Boston” Rob played, the best way to estimate his earnings during those seasons is to do some math based on those numbers.

Based on that math, “Boston” Rob would have won roughly $21,000 during Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains and $24,500 during Survivor: Marquesas.

During Survivor: Winners at War, “Boston” Rob Mariano, technically played for 35 days due to the Edge of Extinction twist. According to a January 2020 Entertainment Weekly article, the minimum that a Survivor: Winners at War player received was $35,000. According to a January 2025 Cinema Blend article, it has been reported that “Boston” Rob won $100,000 during Survivor: Winners at War.

The final thing to factor in is that according to the aforementioned December 2024 Cinema Blend article, all players get paid $50,000 to appear at the reunions.

All things considered, “Boston” Rob won $1.1 million for Redemption Island, $100,000 for Survivor: All-Stars, and a reported $100,000 for Survivor: Winners at War. “Boston” Rob also seemingly would have been paid roughly $21,000 for Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains, $24,500 during Survivor: Marquesas, and $50,000 for reunion shows. That means that “Boston” Rob would have won an estimated $1,305,500 from Survivor. Of course, none of that takes into account how much money “Boston” Rob had to pay in taxes.

The Mysterious Part Of How Much Money “Boston” Rob Mariano Made From Survivor

Based on what has been publicly reported, it is possible to get a pretty good idea of how much money “Boston” Rob Mariano has won on Survivor. However, there are parts of “Boston” Rob’s Survivor career that it is impossible to know how much he was paid for.

Most notably, there have never been any reliable reports about how much money “Boston” Rob was paid for Survivor: Island of the Idols. During that season, “Boston” Rob and Sandra Diaz-Twine appeared during the majority of the season’s episodes as mentors. It has also been reported that “Boston” Rob and Sandra legitimately lived on a beach throughout the season.

Considering the whole season was promoted around “Boston” Rob and Sandra, it seems very safe to assume they were paid a large appearance fee. That said, there is no way to know what that figure would be.

Another mystery about how financially rewarding “Boston” Rob’s Survivor tenure was revolves around the show’s reunions.

Over the years, “Boston” Rob appeared during several Survivor reunions for seasons he didn’t compete in. At face value, it is tempting to assume “Boston” Rob was paid $10,000 for each of those appearances. However, that is far from certain.

On the one hand, “Boston” Rob could have been paid nothing for those reunion appearances. That seems like it is a real possibility for one reunion that “Boston” Rob appeared during since he took the possibility to promote a book he published. On the other hand, “Boston” Rob could have demanded more than $10,000 for those appearances since he got involved when he didn’t have the chance to win the game. Ultimately, it will remain a mystery unless “Boston” Rob or someone involved with Survivor reveals all, and it seems very unlikely that will ever happen.
