Why Nets may bypass 2025, look to 2026 in NBA free agency

As the NBA playoffs continue for the top teams, others are already looking ahead to the offseason. The Brooklyn Nets are poised to make big moves with their assets in the upcoming draft and free agency.

It remains to be seen which road general manager Sean Marks and team owner Joe Tsai decide to drive down.

An ESPN Insider points out that the Nets have significant cap space this offseason. With various free-agent holds and their four first-round picks, the Nets could have up to $45 million in cap room. This puts them in a strong position for the offseason maneuvers.

The Nets have options for the upcoming season. They could stick to their rebuilding plan from last year, potentially aiming for another high draft pick in a promising draft class. On the other hand, they might explore trading for a star player to bolster their roster.
