The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office has not yet identified a suspect in the shooting.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A woman was found shot inside a Jacksonville home Tuesday morning and later died at a local hospital, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said.

Sgt. Ray Reeves with JSO’s homicide unit said officers responded to the home located in the 800 block of Hartshill Place on the Northside around 3:30 a.m. after receiving a call that someone had been shot.

When officers arrived, they found a woman in the residence with at least one gunshot wound. The woman was transported to a local hospital where she died later that morning.

JSO’s homicide unit was called out to the scene where an investigation remains underway. Detectives detained several witnesses that Reeves said are cooperating with police. They are conducting interviews with them Tuesday.

The sheriff’s office is requesting anyone who has information regarding the incident to contact them at 904-630-0500. You can remain anonymous by contacting First Coast Crime Stoppers at 1-845-877-8477.

It is early in the investigation and not yet clear what led up to the shooting, who was involved or the relationship between the shooter and the woman killed.

This story will be updated when more information becomes available.
