CAPE CORAL, Fla. (WFLA) — A Florida man was arrested after he led officers on a 30-mile pursuit on an ATV, Cape Coral police said.

On Sunday evening, officers responded to a Cape Coral home regarding a disturbance with weapons, possibly being domestic violence-related. The call indicated a man had been drinking, was armed with a knife and was making threats.

The man, identified as 44-year-old Damion Scott Stafford, fled the home on an ATV, according to the police department. Officers set up a perimeter after spotting Stafford driving on a red ATV without lights.

Despite police chasing Stafford in their fully activated patrol cars, Stafford fled at 80 mph through residential neighborhoods and main roadways for approximately 25 minutes.

The video, captured on an officer’s dash camera, shows Stafford throwing his hands up, gesturing a gun and tossing a large knife behind him. The 12-inch fixed-blade knife was later discovered on the road.

Police pursued Stafford for 30 miles until he crashed and flipped the ATV, landing in an embankment on its left side. A K-9 was deployed after the suspect refused to show officers his hands.

Stafford was arrested on charges including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated fleeing and eluding, reckless driving, DUI and convicted felon in possession of a concealed weapon.
