Bayern Munich and AC Milan are both interested in signing on-loan Chelsea midfielder Andrey Santos this summer, a report has claimed.

Chelsea struck a deal worth up to £18m to sign Santos from Vasco da Gama in January 2023. After joining that summer, the midfielder headed to Nottingham Forest on loan, but he was afforded just two appearances in five months before being recalled.

He was then sent to Chelsea’s sister side Strasbourg, where Santos has emerged as one of the most exciting young midfielders around. The 20-year-old Brazil international has ten goals and five assists across all competitions this season and has been earmarked for a significant role in Chelsea’s midfield next year.

Santos’ form has caught the eye of a number of sides across Europe and Mail Sport name Milan and Bayern as two of several suitors.

Milan’s interest is said to be “more serious” than Bayern, who are keeping a close eye on developments as Santos awaits a decision on his next move.

In a recent interview with Gianluca Di Marzio, Santos made it abundantly clear that he believes he is ready to play in the Premier League, adding: “The two clubs and my agent will discuss it at the end of the season.”

A previous report insisted Chelsea have not yet decided whether to welcome Santos back to Stamford Bridge this summer. Much could depend on the two clubs’ bids to qualify for the Champions League – Strasbourg are two points adrift in Ligue 1, while Chelsea are locked in an equally tight battle in the Premier League.

There have even been claims Chelsea could listen to offers of around £30m for Santos, but such a price tag would appear to be well below his true value. Santos is tied to the Blues until 2030.
