A senior Russian military general was killed Friday in a fiery car explosion in Moscow.

According to Russian media reports, Yaroslav Moskalik, who was the deputy head of the main operations directorate of the Russian Armed Forces, was killed in a car explosion in Balashikha.

The bomb had been planted in a parked car and was detonated remotely as the officer – who lived locally – walked past, law enforcement sources said.

Footage captured a vehicle entirely engulfed in flames near an apartment building just moments after the explosion.

Authorities haven’t officially confirmed any details of the incident, which comes a day after Russia launched its deadliest attack on Ukraine in almost a year.

It also wasn’t immediately clear if the officer was targeted.

Ukraine has, in the past, claimed responsibility for targeting Russian military officers on home soil.

Lt. Gen. Igor Kirillov, the Kremlin’s top nuclear weapons chief, was taken out in a car bombing last December.

Ukraine later admitted its role in that killing, saying Krillov was targeted for allegedly orchestrating the use of chemical weapons against Ukrainian troops.

The latest car bombing comes after President Trump blasted Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin for bombing Ukraine in defiance of attempts to broker peace.

“I am not happy with the Russian strikes on KYIV,” Trump raged in a Truth Social post. “Not necessary, and very bad timing. Vladimir, STOP! 5000 soldiers a week are dying. Lets get the Peace Deal DONE!”
