Zoe Ball to front new BBC show months after stepping down from Radio 2

Zoe Ball’s TV comeback has been officially confirmed, just months after her emotional exit from BBC Radio 2. The presenter, who has spent the recent months working “at a beach cafe,” will return to screens in May to host a special tribute show.

Last year, she fronted ITV’s ABBA-inspired talent competition Mamma Mia! I Have A Dream, which saw hopefuls compete for West End roles in the musical adaptation of the movie. However, just months before her radio exit and after one series, the show was axed, which she admitted was “a shame.” While her departure from the airwaves was also brought on by the tragic death of her mother, Julia Peckham, Zoe is said to be in better spirits after landing this huge gig.

The BBC has announced VE Day 80: A Celebration to Remember, which will take place at the iconic Horse Guards Parade in London.

Zoe will present the live concert on Thursday, May 8, from 8pm to 10pm on BBC One and iPlayer.

It will also feature performances from artists including Samantha Barks, Fleur East, John Newman, Victor Ray, Freya Ridings, and Keala Settle.

The likes of cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason, Calum Scott, The Darkness, Toploader, Tom Walker, and the legendary classical singer Sir Willard White will also perform.

Strictly stars Amy Dowden, Carlos Gu, Karen Hauer, Neil Jones, Lauren Oakley, and Kai Widdrington will all perform a routine during the concert.

This comes after sources revealed that Zoe will be appearing in the star-studded BBC series Who Do You Think You Are.

According to an insider via The Sun: “Zoe comes from a famous family but not much is known beyond that.

“She was really excited to get be asked to the do show and is really looking forward to seeing what they find.”
