Taylor is the son of Hall of Famer Jason Taylor, who starred for the Dolphins and spent one season with the Jets in 2010.

Taylor was a three-year starter at LSU. He set records at the school for career catches with 129 and receiving yards with 1,308.

He had 55 catches for 546 yards and two touchdowns in 2024.

According to The Athletic’s Dane Brugler, Taylor was considered as Mr. Reliable in LSU’s offense and has the potential to bring the same value to an NFL team. Brugler highlighted Taylor’s favorable attributes including good athleticism, dependable ball skills, and strong blocking capabilities. He predicted that Taylor could establish himself as a reliable NFL starter who excels in various aspects of the game and drew comparisons to Hunter Henry.

The Jets had a hole at tight end after letting Tyler Conklin leave for the Chargers in free agency.

Taylor joins a room that has Jeremy Ruckert and Stone Smartt in it.

The Jets considered taking Penn State tight end Tyler Warren in the first round but drafted Missouri tackle Armand Membou instead.

The Jets offense needed to add some pass catchers to join Garrett Wilson and help new quarterback Justin Fields.
