THOMSON, Ga. () – It all started when police tried to serve a warrant related to the homicide of 42-year-old Mario Clemons.
Several agencies were helping serve that warrant when the suspect — identified as Devicco Moss, who also goes by Troy took off in a truck.
“What we were doing was we were following up on a homicide investigation that the GBI and McDuffie County sheriff’s office were investigating that accounts back on, I think, April the 13. Where we were in our investigation had led us to obtain a search warrant for the residence of Devicco LaTroy Moss,” said Pat Morgan, GBI Special Agent.
During the chase, a Motor Carrier Compliance Division Officer’s truck overturned. Authorities say he was not injured.
The chase continued, and Moss’s truck crashed into another vehicle and caught fire.
Moss was pronounced dead on the scene. The driver of the other vehicle was not injured.
“Again, we are continuing our homicide investigation for Clemons, and basically, that’s where we stand now. “
Moss’s body was sent to the crime lab for an autopsy. Anybody with information is encouraged to contact the GBI regional office in Thomson or the McDuffie County sheriff’s office.
