AUGUSTA, Ga. () – Sacred Heart, it’s an awesome venue for this awesome garden festival.

“Lots of fun things. There’s food trucks, great vendors, fun activities, live painting out in the courtyard. So just a fun time to come out and support Sacred Heart,” said Millie Huff Executive Director.

And inside the ornate former Catholic Church there are more rustic and rural ones.

“Everybody knows the church, oh come, come, come,” said Richard Wright.
Richard’s works are truly heavenly, he creates churches, not ornate cathedrals but old fashioned ones you would find out in the country years ago.

“People think back to their home church, grandma grew up here and I want it for grandma, that type of thing,” he said.

Richard took up building his tiny churches after he retired at age 80, he says it takes him about 12 to 15 hours to build, he even incorporates stained glass in some, very highfalutin, he wants people to enjoy them in the house or out in the garden.

He says those browsing often say, “Hey I recognize this one!”

“Yes, they do, a lot of people says that’s home church that’s where mama went,” he said.

You might think Richard has a book at the home of old country churches, but he says no.

“Just put them together from memory,” he said

“You got old country churches in your head.”

“Exactly,” he said.

From Richard’s head to his hands to these charming chapels. Such a blessing.
