DANVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — Students in Danville are getting involved with one of the biggest events in Vermilion County. It’s another year of Balloons Over Vermilion.

On Friday, 3rd, 4th and 5th graders showed off their hot air balloon designs. Pilots visited First Baptist Christian School to speak with the kids and teach them more about the balloons they fly.

Some students said it was a special opportunity for them to be involved.

“I was really excited,” said 5th grader Mackenzie Sooley. “I’ve never been a very good drawer, and I’m not very good with arts and crafts, so I was kind of nervous at first, but I got really good at it eventually.”

The students’ artwork will be posted all over Vermilion County in businesses and schools. Balloons Over Vermilion is a two-day event that will take place July 11-12.
