Hundreds marched along the Gosford foreshore on the NSW Central Coast today, rallying against violence to women.

Those marching called for more money for services, education and advocacy.

Police say the 19-year-old was killed by repeat domestic violence offender Adrian Torrens.

A total of 24 women are dead as a result of violence in Australia so far this year.

Late last week, Victorian woman Kylie Sanders was hit by a car at Yarrawonga.

She’d allegedly been trying to break up a fight the driver was having with his partner.

“Our political leaders and electoral candidates need to prioritise taking action over ignorance,” local woman Scarlett Owens said.

MP for Robertson Gordan Reid, said both sides of the political spectrum were working with the local council to “make representations to the government to end this scourge on our society”.

Torrens was spared jail and was serving a community corrections order for breaching an AVO when he allegedly murdered Griffin.

The 53-year-old was found unresponsive in a cell at western Sydney’s Silverwater Correctional Complex on Thursday. Police said the death was not suspicious.

The news was described as “bittersweet” by Griffin’s loved ones.
