Five people have been charged and an investigation is under way after a brawl broke out at a children’s football game in Sydney’s south-west.

Two people were injured with the matter now referred to the local football judiciary.

On Saturday morning at Fairfield, the under-sevens match between Marconi Juniors and South West Wanderers at Prospect View Park turned sour on the sidelines.

9News understands a call from the referee upset one of the mothers.

A second mum intervened and a brawl broke out.

One local said she “heard a lot of screaming” from her house.

A man in his 20s and a woman were treated for minor injuries.

Police were called and five people were arrested, with two women and two men charged with affray and a third man charged with offensive conduct.

They’ll all front court in May.

The Southern Districts Football Association told Nine News.

The matter was under investigation and would be referred to its judiciary, and that they “don’t condone that sort of behaviour at all.”
