MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — Eleven people were hurt and one person was shot and killed by a Myrtle Beach police officer in a Saturday night altercation along Ocean Boulevard.
The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is investigating as well.
It happened just before midnight in the 900 block of North Ocean Blvd., after officers noticed a disturbance involving multiple people.

Police said that during the altercation, somebody fired a weapon, leading to the officer responding with his own.
“The individual shot during officer response has passed away as a result of their injuries,” police said on Facebook.
Authorities said the officer involved wasn’t injured.
“The Myrtle Beach Police Department offers its prayers and deepest sympathies to everyone affected by this incident,” the agency said in a Facebook post.
Officials said in addition to SLED’s role, the department will launch an internal review.
“We appreciate the public’s patience as both investigations proceed, and all leads are thoroughly examined,” police said.
Anyone with information is asked to call (843) 918-1382.
This is a developing story.
