Just before 1 p.m. Sunday, a 911 caller reported that a man was gunned down in the middle of the roadway, according to the Camden County Sheriff’s Office.
CAMDEN COUNTY, Ga. — A man was killed and a child was injured after a shooting in the Deerwood Village community in Camden County Sunday afternoon, the sheriff’s office said.
Just before 1 p.m. Sunday, a 911 caller reported that a man had been shot in the middle of the road in the Deerwood Village neighborhood off Harrietts Bluff Road, according to the Camden County Sheriff’s Office.
When deputies arrived, they found a man with multiple gunshot wounds and a young child who had been shot in the arm, the sheriff’s office said.
The child was airlifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. The man was also taken to a nearby hospital with critical injuries. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital, the sheriff’s office said.
No suspects are in police custody at this time, and law enforcement agencies are on the scene conducting an investigation.
The neighborhood is closed off to traffic as authorities conduct their investigation.
“We want to assure the public that there is no indication of any continued threat to the community,” the sheriff’s office said in an update on the situation.
The investigation remains ongoing and investigators said additional details will be released as they become available.
