ALACHUA, Fla. – Denetria Shaunte Griffin, 42, was arrested yesterday after allegedly hitting her boyfriend, threatening him with a knife, and trying to hit him with a vehicle.

An Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputy reported that at about 1:28 p.m. on April 26, Griffin and her boyfriend were arguing in their home on NW 75th Street, west of Lacrosse, when she hit him, causing visible injuries to his chest. Griffin allegedly pulled the victim out of their home and threatened him with a kitchen knife that she took from her vehicle; she allegedly said she would attack him and cut the power to the mobile home and air conditioning unit. She then got into her vehicle and allegedly tried to “run down” the victim on NW 75th Street.

Deputies located Griffin at a residence in the city of Alachua and reportedly found a kitchen knife that matched knives in the victim’s home.

Post Miranda, Griffin reportedly said she did not try to run over the victim, but she was unable to say how the knife ended up at her location.

Griffin has been charged with domestic battery and two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. She has seven misdemeanor convictions (one violent). Judge Gloria Walker set bail at $5,000.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
