Peacock is going on a cancellation spree.

The streamer canceled several scripted series in recent months as it makes way for its new slate.

The dark comedy series Based On A True Story, starring Chris Messina and Kaley Cuoco, was canceled despite a promising two-season run. The sports mockumentary Mr. Throwback starring Steph Curry and Adam Pally was also canceled after a single six-episode season on the streamer. Peacock did not share viewership numbers or a reason for the cancellations.

Based on A True Story starred Cuoco and Messina as a couple who start a true crime podcast and get wrapped up in a murder investigation of their own. Season 2 ended with a major cliffhanger, as well, that fans will never get to see solved at this rate now that it wasn’t able to beat that two-season curse.

Mr. Throwback starred Pally as a memorabilia trader who reaches out to his sixth-grade teammate, the NBA legend playing himself, for help. The series also starred Saturday Night Live cast member Ego Nwodim.

And these are just the latest of several series to be canceled at Peacock.

The streamer recently canceled Teacup, a horror adaptation starring Handmaid’s Tale actress Yvonne Strahovski, and Hysteria!, another original horror series starring Julie Bowen.

But the streamer still has quite a few projects coming down the pipeline for the rest of the 2025-2026 season.

The Ted prequel series was renewed for a second season after it became the streaming platform’s most-watched original title after it premiered in January. Love Island Games and The Traitors have also been renewed.

Several series are also already returning with new seasons, including Law & Order: Organized Crime and Poker Face.

The cancellations could also be making room for some of Peacock’s newer projects. The streamer recently announced Love Island: Beyond The Villa, a first-of-its-kind series for the platform which will follow the breakout stars of Love Island USA Season 6.
