Teddi Mellencamp took to social media on Monday to showcase the scars she was left with after undergoing numerous surgeries to treat her stage 4 cancer.

Before making her first red carpet appearance since the diagnosis with longtime friend Kyle Richards, 56, at her side, the 43-year-old Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum posted a series of photos of herself on her Instagram page and Instagram Story as she admitted to feeling emotional about the marks and encouraged her fans and followers to “get checked.”

“It’s been 76 days since I went to the ER with unbearable headaches and quickly found out I had multiple stage 4 tumors ‘the size of plums’ in my brain and lungs. Melanoma had metastasized there and been there for ‘6 months to a year’ and we had no clue,” Teddi wrote in the caption of an April 28 post, which featured an image taken of the back of her head and upper back.

“Since that day,” she continued, “I have had multiple surgeries, had rage from the steroids, felt very sick, laughed a ton, ridden horses, loved on my kids and felt great. When I first looked at this picture, at the scars on my head and my arm, I cried. Then, I felt a warmness rush through my body and felt so much peace. Peace from the incredible support system I have in my family and friends. Peace from the outpouring of love from y’all on here. Peace in knowing my story could help somebody save their life.”

Teddi then told her online audience to advocate for themselves.

“If something isn’t feeling right … get checked,” she advised.

On her Instagram Story, Teddi shared another photo of herself as she admitted to experiencing many emotions amid her health battle.

“Seeing my scars on my back and head make me cry but also remind me of all the things we can overcome. Very grateful to this fighter body of mine,” she explained.

Teddi then shared a photo of herself getting ready to attend an event for the World Cancer Research Fund and telling Kyle, “[I’m] coming for you.”

In a third pic shared on her Story, Teddi included an image of herself and Kyle as they sat at a table inside the charity drive.

“[World Cancer Research Fund] is one cause I’ll leave the house for,” she declared.

Teddi was featured in a full-time role on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills from season eight through season 10.
