Rondé Barber on Bucs' new cornerback: 'He's not getting my number'

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — In Tampa, few people are as beloved as Buccaneers legend Rondé Barber.

Barber spent his entire 16-year career in Tampa Bay, where he helped the Bucs win Super Bowl 37, was named All-Pro five times, made five Pro Bowls, was named to the 2000s All-Decade Team, and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2023.

The Buccaneer great wore the number 20 in Tampa Bay, the same number that new Buccaneer cornerback and 2nd round draft selection Benjamin Morrison wore during his time at Notre Dame.

With football legends like Warren Moon and Lawrence Taylor recently making headlines over incoming draftees wanting to wear their numbers for the Titans and Giants, respectively, some may have wondered if Rondé would be open to letting Morrison wear 20 for the Bucs.

“Benjamin Morrison, I love him,” Barber said on the second episode of The Rondé Barber Show, before playfully adding, “He’s not getting my number, by the way. Just putting that out there right now.”

Barber ultimately gave the selection of Morrison a “B” during his round-by-round draft grades, noting his only concern was a hip condition Morrison had corrective surgery on last year in preparation for his NFL career.

For more of Barber’s thoughts on the 2025 Bucs draft, as well as his thoughts on the Shedeur Sanders situation, make sure to watch the latest episode of The Rondé Barber Show.
