The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said it detained multiple people of interest at the scene.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man died Tuesday night after being shot multiple times on Jacksonville’s Westside, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

Around 8:40 p.m., patrol officers responded to the 1500 block of Lane Avenue South in reference to gunfire, JSO Sgt. Highfill said. When they arrived, they found the man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The man was pronounced dead on scene after members of the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department responded, JSO said.

Multiple people of interest were detained at the scene as well, according to JSO.

“At this time, the circumstances that led to the victim’s death are unknown, and the investigation into the associations of the people involved is continuing,” Highfill said. “We believe this is an isolated incident and there is no danger to the public.”
