A FORMER Democratic fundraiser who now supports the Republicans claimed the alleged cover-up surrounding Joe Biden’s health is more seismic than the Watergate scandal.

Political strategist Lindy Li likened the Democratic establishment to a “cult” and slammed how officials allegedly tried to keep the conversation about Biden’s health and his fitness for office under wraps.

Li, a former surrogate for Kamala Harris, sensationally admitted she was part of the apparent cover-up until 2022 before deciding to speak out.

“Everybody lied,” she told The U.S. Sun.

“There’s not a single person who didn’t.

“Out of loyalty, I also covered it up until 2022, and that’s when I started easing my way out of the cult.

“It was a matter of national security; we cannot have a guy like that being commander in chief.”

Biden’s term was dogged by speculation regarding his fitness for office, and a string of gaffes and blunders failed to dampen the rumors.

Biden’s disastrous performance against Donald Trump in June 2024 sent Democrats into panic behind closed doors, but the president still told NBC News his mental acuity was “pretty damn good.”

Li revealed she’s writing a book discussing what unfolded within Democratic circles, and claimed her producer who wants to buy her rights told her that any alleged cover-up is bigger than Watergate.

The Watergate scandal in the 1970s sent American politics into a tailspin, culminating in Richard Nixon’s resignation.

The burglary, which happened at the Democratic National Committee headquarters, was carried out by suspects that had links to Nixon’s re-election campaign.

Trump’s upended the world order in just 100 days – so what will the NEXT 100 bring?

Nixon initially denied that his team was behind the burglary before it later emerged he was heard discussing hush money payments linked to the cover-up. He later denied approving any payments.

The president also instructed the CIA to block the FBI probe into the burglary.

Lawmakers then brought in measures designed to curb the power of the executive branch of government.

What was the Watergate scandal?

AMERICAN politics was left reeling following the Watergate scandal of the 1970s, which led to the resignation of Richard Nixon.

  • Several burglars were arrested in the office of the Democratic National Committee in Washington DC on June 17 1972.
  • The group was caught wiretapping phones and stealing documents.
  • An investigation revealed that the suspects were linked to Richard Nixon’s re-election campaign.
  • Nixon took steps to cover up what happened in the DNC headquarters.
  • It emerged that Nixon and his aides had instructed the CIA to obstruct the FBI probe.
  • Nixon was forced into releasing tapes that essentially implicated him as being involved.
  • He resigned on August 8, 1974, to avoid being impeached and removed from office.
  • Nixon was pardoned by successor, Gerald Ford, for any alleged crimes committed against the US.
  • Nixon never admitted any criminal wrongdoing, but did admit exercising poor judgement.
  • The scandal prompted lawmakers to introduce reforms designed to curb the power of the executive.

Li teased that there will be allegations in her book, which will make “people’s jaws drop.”

“It just blows my mind that I could have been part of something so monumental,” she said.

She railed against the Democrats who have not apologized since.

“There are still people saying that I am lying about his cognitive decline,” she claimed.

“Are you kidding me? At this point, the entire world knows.

“But [in] the cult, you can’t say that. You have to say that he’s a genius.”

Li claimed that she is still being targeted by former Democratic officials after blowing the whistle.

It was a matter of national security; we cannot have a guy like that being commander in chief.

In a blistering attack, she warned the Democrats could be in the wilderness for potentially a decade.

“No one has apologized about the Biden thing,” she claimed.

“I really think it’s that big of a deal because everyone lied to the American people.

“So why should we ever believe them again?

“There’s not a single politician who said ‘I am sorry.’”

She claimed the Democrats are on the wrong side of the argument, and warned that without Trump’s efforts to cut government spending, the country would’ve been on a “Doomsday” trajectory.

‘BURYING HEAD IN SAND’

Senior politicians have been silent, but former White House aides have since admitted they “gaslighted” Americans about Biden’s fitness for office.

Michael LaRosa, the ex-press secretary for Jill Biden, blasted officials for reportedly burying their heads in the sand.

“Every time there was a story about his age, or whether he could do another election, or whether he should be the candidate, they just doubled down,” he told Puck News in February.

A damning Wall Street Journal report from December 2024 cited a source who claimed Biden had good days and bad days.

And, one apparent bad day forced a national security briefing in 2021 to be rescheduled.

Joe Manchin, a now former senator, admitted he didn’t know if Biden had the necessary stamina to complete the job.

Since November’s election, the Democrats have been scrambling to present how they offer an alternative vision to Trump and his agenda.

Damning Gallup polling from April 1 to 14 revealed only 25% of Americans have confidence in the Democratic leadership within Congress.

On average, polling has usually stood at 45%.

How Trump changed the world in first 100 days

Donald Trump has signed over 140 executive orders in his first 100 days back in office. After making a slew of promises before re-entering the White House, what has he achieved so far?

Education:

Trump signed an executive order to cut federal money to schools that support or are seen to “push critical race theory, transgender insanity, and other inappropriate racial, sexual or political content” onto children.

He has also signed an order to cut funding to schools that have a mandate about vaccines and masks.

The President is also working on closing the federal Education Department and pulling back on DEI policies and programs, directing the federal government to end its diversity and equity programs.

Classified Records:

In March 2025, the White House released the classified documents on the assassination of JFK, something Trump vowed to do in October 2024 “immediately” after re-entering office.

Energy:

In September 2024, Trump vowed to declare a national energy emergency to push for more drilling and boosting “domestic energy supply” which he did when he signed an executive order upon entering the White House.

Another promise he has kept was signing an executive order to remove the US from the Paris Agreement.

Two other orders Trump has signed are working to keep his promises to end state emissions waivers that limit sales of gas-powered cars and to bring an end to the “electric vehicle mandate.”

Foreign Affairs:

The President vowed to end the Russia-Ukraine war soon after entering office and has become a key negotiator between the warring nations.

Though he has so far failed to end the bloodshed, his action has moved talks on to finding a ceasefire agreement.

He also criticised the amount of US funding going to Ukraine, quickly ramping up pressure on European allies to take on more of the burden.

As part of his diplomacy and foreign strategy, Trump has already hosted at least 11 world leaders in his first 100 days with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu being the first leader welcomed to the White House on February 4.

Government:

Trump said he would fire government employees who he says are “corrupt bureaucrats” which is something he has addressed via another executive order.

He also established DOGE to root out blockers to efficiency with Elon Musk brandishing the “chainsaw for bureaucracy.”

DOGE cuts have seen major reductions in the US Agency for International Development (USAID) and attempts to make cuts in the Department of Education.

Cuts of $47.4 billion have been made to the Department of Health and Human Services while over $45 billion has been taken from the Agency for International Development, and $2.6 billion has been cut from the Department of State, according to DOGE.

Immigration:

The President has long been waging a war on immigration and has signed numerous executive orders in a bid to fulfil his plans.

These include carrying out the biggest deportation in US history to “end the migrant invasion,” ending the constitutional right to birthright citizenship, banning refugees from Gaza and removing the student visas of those deemed to be pro-Hamas protesters, “radical anti-American and anti-Semitic foreigners.”

He also signed an order to start “ideological screening” for all immigrants and axed the CBP One app used by migrants to schedule appointments US border patrol agents.

Illegal border crossings from Mexico are now the lowest they have been for over four years but there are fears that some of those being deported under Trump’s action against “killers and thugs” are innocent and are not being given due process.

Pardons:

Trump has pardoned over 1,500 people including the majority of those convicted or charged in the Capitol Hill riots on January 6, 2021.

He has also pardoned Ross Ulbricht, the founder of a dark web marketplace known as Silk Road and Charles Kushner, Ivanka Trump’s father-in-law who was in prison for tax evasion, witness tampering, and campaign finance offences.

Tariffs:

In November, Trump said he would “tariff the hell out of countries that have been taking advantage” of the US, something he is continuing to work on after his “Liberation Day” announcement of a “reciprocal tariff” strategy with tariffs up to 145%, most harshly impacting China.

Taxes:

Through congressional action, the President has started cutting corporate tax rates to 15%, make tax cuts permanent, have no tax on tips, scrap taxes on Social Security and overtime pay, and making interest on car loans entirely tax deductible.

But, no clear successor to Harris has emerged and there is a vacuum at the top of the party.

Speculation is mounting that firebrand congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez could launch a bid for the 2028 Democratic nomination.

She whipped die-hard left wingers into a frenzy by appearing on the campaign with Bernie Sanders.

Other potential options include Wes Moore, the Governor of Maryland, and Gavin Newsom, the Governor of California.

Moore has tried to dampen down speculation on a potential 2028 run.

He was probed by Bloomberg about a potential campaign and said: “No. I’ve got the best job around.

“And I love the momentum we’re actually seeing in the State of Maryland.”

Newsom was considered a potential candidate for the Democratic Party after Biden abandoned his re-election bid before lawmakers quickly rallied behind Harris.

Newsom cannot run for a third term as Governor of California, fueling speculation he may throw his name into the ring.

And, eyes are on what Harris may do.

She could run for the Democratic Party’s nomination for the California gubernatorial election.

Harris has not commented on her political aspirations since November’s defeat.
