Florida Highway Patrol says the crash happened at the intersection of Eagle Harbor Parkway and Town Center Boulevard Wednesday night.
CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — A Fleming Island teenager suffered critical injuries Wednesday night after being hit by a car while crossing a crosswalk in Clay County, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash happened at approximately 8:05 p.m. at the intersection of Eagle Harbor Parkway and Town Center Boulevard, the crash report from FHP states.
The teen, identified as a 15-year-old girl, was crossing a crosswalk north at the intersection at the same time a sedan was traveling westbound on Eagle Harbor Parkway, FHP said.
The report states the driver of the sedan, a 68-year-old woman, was “unable to see the pedestrian as she was crossing the roadway.”
As a result, according to FHP, the front of the woman’s sedan hit the teen.
Members of Clay County Fire Rescue then took the teen to HCA Orange Park Hospital, troopers said.
The woman did not suffer any injuries in the crash.
