GAFFNEY, S.C. (WSPA) – Students of Limestone University have been offered a transfer scholarship at another Upstate college after the university’s closure announcement.

Erskine College, located in Due West, S.C., said they are offering students a scholarship of $25,000 for each year they attend Erskine.

Limestone University announced on Tuesday that the school will close at the end of the 2025 spring semester. The closure came from financial troubles with the university needing $6 million to remain open.

“We are deeply sympathetic toward the situation Limestone students find themselves in right now,” Paul Bell, Erskine’s Vice President for Advancement and Interim Vice President of Admissions, said in a statement. “We want to do everything we can to help them continue their education.”

Bell added that the college’s strong campus community and small class sizes will be a good fit for Limestone’s students.

Limestone students who are interested in Erskine College can visit their website or reach out to the admissions office at 864-379-8838.
