A Minnesota man murdered his 67-year-old mother by beating her to death and then attacked a woman the following day and sexually assaulted her as she was cooking dinner for her child, police say.

The assault victim managed to fend off Aaron Schlossin, 36, of Prior Lake, by hitting him with a piece of frozen meat that she was reportedly holding at the time of his attack, according to court documents obtained by local ABC affiliate KSTP. Schlossin allegedly stormed in through a sliding glass door and pinned the woman up against her refrigerator before groping her genitals, cops say.

For that incident, Schlossin faces one count of second-degree criminal sexual conduct and one count of first-degree burglary, according to online records.

His mother’s alleged slaying, meanwhile, landed Schlossin a count of second-degree murder after cops found her body Sunday.

Diana Kaiser, who was living with her Schlossin, was found dead inside the home that they shared in the 4500 block of Colorado Street in Prior Lake, a city around 25 miles southwest of Minneapolis, according to police. A neighbor called the cops and asked for a welfare check on Kaiser, noting how she regularly walks her dog and brings the garbage cans in herself, but hadn’t done so since the previous Thursday.

When officers arrived, they were able to see a body sticking out from under a pile of blankets through one of the windows; dried blood was also observed in the bedroom where Kaiser was located, according to KSTP. The officers entered the residence and found a pair of jeans, which allegedly contained Schlossin’s wallet and ID, covered in blood. Schlossin was nowhere to be found.

As cops investigated Kaiser’s death, a neighbor reportedly told them they could hear a man and woman screaming from inside the home on Thursday night. “Sounded like someone was being murdered,” the neighbor allegedly said, per court documents.

The witness told cops that Schlossin was known to act “off.”
