When and where do I vote?
Voting is compulsory for all Australian citizens aged 18 and over who are enrolled.

What happens on election day?
Both Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Opposition leader Peter Dutton have ruled out making an agreement on policy demands with minor parties or independents to form government in the case of a hung parliament (like the Gillard government did), and will instead negotiate separately on each piece of legislation.
What are the major parties promising?
Their climate policy includes achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, increasing renewable energy investment, and upgrading the electricity grid.
They’ve also promised tighter migration controls.

On housing, they support a national plan to build more public and affordable homes. They also have the most ambitious climate policies, pushing to end coal and gas projects and shift entirely to renewable energy.
When will we know the results?
Senate counting takes longer, often weeks, due to the complexity of the voting system.
