According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, the woman was hospitalized after sustaining non-life-threatening injuries in the shooting.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A woman was hospitalized early Sunday morning after being shot at a Red Roof Inn hotel in Jacksonville, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

JSO Sgt. Mitlyng said patrol officers were sent to the hotel, located at 10901 Harts Rd. on the city’s Northside, at approximately 12:30 a.m. in reference to the shooting.

When they arrived, Mitlyng said officers found the woman who is in her 20s, suffering from a single gunshot wound. She was then taken to a local hospital for treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.

“The initial investigation has revealed that the victim and suspect were in one of the [hotel] rooms when an argument ensued; at which time the victim was shot,” Mitlyng said. “Both the victim and suspect fled the room, and witnesses called 911. At this time, the reason for the argument is unknown, however, this appears to be an isolated incident.”

Mitlyng further told First Coast News that detectives responded to the scene and spoke to the woman, interviewed witnesses and reviewed surveillance video.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call JSO’s non-emergency number at 904-630-0500. To provide information anonymously, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
