Get ready, fashion fans, because the 2025 Met Gala, which is held on the first Monday of May each year, is just around the corner.
The star-studded ball takes place annually at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
Often referred to as the most significant night in the world of fashion, the glamorous event attracts numerous top celebrities, all gathered together by Vogue’s editor-in-chief Anna Wintour.
While most attendees impress with their stunning and elegant outfits, there are occasions when some famous faces completely miss the mark, showing up in strange and eccentric clothes that leave viewers puzzled.
This year’s theme revolves around ‘Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,’ inspired by Monica L. Miller’s 2009 publication, Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity.
It is meant to pay homage to black dandyism, a style with European roots which started post-Emancipation and came out in full force during the Harlem Renaissance.
And, while many fans thought it was due time that black style got the recognition it deserved, others immediately presented concerns about what could potentially come down the Met Gala red carpet.
Many are anticipating that this year’s worst dressed will cross the line into cultural appropriation and risk offensive outfits.
Ahead of this year’s event, DailyMail.com has rounded up the most atrocious, cringe-worthy looks from past Met Galas.
