JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. (WJHL) — Jedis and stormtroopers gathered across the galaxy Saturday for several “May the 4th be with you” events.
Jonesborough and Elizabethton welcomed Star Wars fans wearing robes and wielding lightsabers, while Johnson City saw runners participating in the “Darth Dash.”
JONESBOROUGH
ELIZABETHTON
Star Wars fans in Elizabethton attended a watch party in Kiwanis Park.
“So we have a face painting station set up,” Emma Massick, Elizabethton Parks and Recreation programs and special events coordinator, said. “They have a lot of really cute Star Wars designs to do. The Elizabethton Carter County Library has a build-your-own-lightsaber station. So you can build your own lightsaber. And they’re made out of foam, so they’re fun to battle and won’t hurt so much if you hit your friends.”
JOHNSON CITY
The Goose Chase hosted its annual Star Wars-themed 4K in King Commons Park.
“We want this to be a celebration of Star Wars and all things that Star Wars does to our culture, pop culture, and just, you know, just the entertainment industry, I guess you could say,” said race director Karen Hubbs. “And it’s such a fan favorite movie series. And we’re just glad to celebrate it here.”
News Channel 11’s Alex Williams emceed the race.
