SAVANNAH, Ga. ()—Big news for families in Chatham County is bringing smiles to many faces. A brand-new inclusive playground has just opened, and it’s the first of its kind in Chatham County.

After years of planning, the playground at Ambuc Park is now officially open. Built in partnership with Savannah Ambucs – it’s more than just swings and slides. The new space gives children with disabilities the chance to play side-by-side with other kids.

The new $329,000 playground was built with accessibility in mind. Featuring wheelchair swings, a zero-entry merry-go-round, an accessible zip line, and smooth surfaces. Also, a wide track around the park is perfect for bikes, wheelchairs, and amtrykes – which are adaptive bikes from local nonprofit Savannah Ambucs.

Ambucs led the effort with a $175,000 donation after three years of fundraising. The nonprofit achieved this by promoting mobility, independence, and inclusive play. This is Chatham County’s first fully inclusive playground, allowing children of all abilities to play.

The playground is located next to the Chatham County Aquatic Center on Sallie Mood Drive.
Construction started last year, and the park officially opened in April. Whether you’re walking the track or just swinging with a friend… this new space is helping build a stronger, more inclusive Savannah.
