Late rally propels Illini baseball past Bradley

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) – Illinois baseball picked up its 27th win of the year on Tuesday.

The Illini beat Bradley in their final regular season non-conference game of the year.

Both teams scored in the first inning. The game wound up tied at three through six frames. Then, Dan Hartleb’s team rallied for three runs in the bottom of the seventh to take the lead.

BU got one back in the eighth but couldn’t complete the comeback.

Vytas Valincius, Jack Zebig, Coltin Quagliano and Will Johannes all drove in runs for Illinois.

Ryan Daly was the winning pitcher after going five innings and allowing just two runs. Four Illini relievers threw an inning each as the hosting Orange and Blue allowed just five hits in the mid-week contest.

Illinois improves to 27-19 on the year with the victory.

Next: U of I hosts UCLA for a three-game weekend series which will be the final home games of the season for Hartleb and Co.
