AUGUSTA, Ga. () – The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office said investigators have arrested a man who is accused of exploiting his 86-year-old step-grandfather.

Lamontra Medlock, 49, was taken into custody last week in St. Augustine, Florida, by the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, which includes two RCSO investigators.

Medlock was arrested on a Grand Jury Arrest Warrant on these charges:

  • Exploitation and Intimidation of a Disabled Adult, Elder Person, or Resident
  • Twelve counts of Felony Theft by Deception
  • One count of Misdemeanor Theft by Deception

According to police, Medlock is accused of forging checks and misusing his 86-year-old step-grandfather’s bank accounts and credit cards between January and July 2022.

The sheriff’s office states Medlock allegedly wrote checks to himself totaling $42,600, accumulated $6,821.13 in unauthorized credit card charges, and made over $26,000 in phone payments without the victim’s knowledge or consent.

Medlock has been transferred to the Charles B. Webster Detention Center.
