Rihanna’s best Met Gala look for China: Through the Looking Glass is arguably her best ever. She wore a yellow coat dress with a cascading train by Chinese designer Guo Pei.
“I’m so in love with this dress, but the train is insane!” she told Vanity Fair. “I can’t really walk in it without any help — but it’s so worth it. I love this dress so much! It’s Chinese couture and it’s made by Guo Pei. It’s handmade by one Chinese woman and it took her two years to make. I found it online.”

Cardinal Timothy Dolan of New York’s Roman Catholic diocese revealed that he lent Rihanna the mitre for the occasion.
“She gave it back to me this morning,” he told Sirius XM’s The Catholic Channel. “She was very gracious.”

In 2017, Rihanna turned heads at the “Rei Kawakubo / Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between” Met Gala. She adhered to the avant-garde theme better than most with a dress by Kawakubo.
The dress featured scraps of fabric arranged to look like flower petals. She paired it with red heels with straps that went up her thighs.
Her pregnancy announcement at ‘Superfine: Tailoring Black Style’
In 2025, Rihanna showed up at the Met Gala red carpet in custom Marc Jacobs for the theme Superfine: Tailoring Black Style. She was the final arrival of the night, wearing a gray bustier, black cropped jacket, polka dot cravat, and a black pinstripe skirt. She also took the opportunity to reveal her third pregnancy. The bustier’s impeccable tailoring revealed her baby bump.
“When I found out I was pregnant, I thought to myself: There’s no way I’m going to go shopping in no maternity aisle,” she told Vogue when she was pregnant with her first child. “I’m sorry — it’s too much fun to get dressed up. I’m not going to let that part disappear because my body is changing.”
Rihanna has opted for dramatic pregnancy reveals in the past. In 2023, she revealed she was pregnant with her second child at the Super Bowl. While this look is a little more divisive with fans, the dramatics of the pregnancy reveal places it among her best.
