Kayla Tausche, who was CNN’s senior White House correspondent, has decided to leave the network after just two years since she was hired, as per a report.

Tausche, who was poached from CNBC, did not provide a reason for her decision to leave in a goodbye note obtained by Status .

“I’m off to chase the next big story,” the 38-year-old journalist wrote to colleagues.

Neither Tausche nor CNN returned requests for comment.

Prior to her stint at CNN, Tausche worked at CNBC as a senior White House correspondent and anchor, covering the Biden administration. During her time at CNBC, she co-hosted the network’s 2020 election night coverage, the inauguration, and also covered the first Trump administration.

From 2014 to 2017, she co-hosted CNBC’s Squawk Alley. She joined the Comcast-owned financial network in 2011.

CNN, which lags far behind Fox and left-leaning rival MSNBC in the ratings, touted Tausche’s strong journalism background when she was hired.

CNN had praised Tausche’s background which was rich in economic, technology, and foreign policy knowledge, stating that it would enhance the network’s coverage in these crucial areas as President Biden prepared for the 2024 reelection bid.

Earlier this year, the network announced additional members to the White House team to cover the Trump administration.

CNN appointed Kaitlan Collins as chief White House correspondent. Collins added that role and continued anchoring her primetime show “The Source.” The bigger role has put Collins front and center and often in the president’s crosshairs.

The network also promoted a handful of correspondents to the White House beat, as part of the change in the administration.

On Thursday, parent company Warner Bros. Discovery said it was considering splitting off its cable properties to offset mounting losses from cord-cutting.
