GREENEVILLE, Tenn. (WJHL) — A man was found guilty of murdering his five-week-old daughter in Greeneville in February 2020.

According to the Greene County Criminal Court, Lavelle Scott was found guilty on Wednesday of first-degree murder in the death of his daughter, Sophia Flora Fields.

He was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole on the murder charge.

Scott was also found guilty of aggravated child neglect and aggravated child abuse. He is set to be sentenced on those charges on July 30, and each charge carries a $50,000 fine.

Judge John Dugger Jr. will preside over the sentencing.
