Houthis launch missile at Israel despite cease-fire with US

The Houthi terrorist organization in Yemen fired a ballistic missile towards Israel on Friday morning. This action comes after the group promised to continue targeting the Jewish state despite recently agreeing to a cease-fire with the United States.

Air raid alarms sounded across central and southern Israel as the country’s military tracked the projectile, with the Iron Dome missile defense system intercepting before it could strike a target, officials said.

There were no reports of injuries or damage, according to the Times of Israel.

Friday’s alarm follows Sunday’s breach in which the Houthis launched a missile that struck near Israel’s main international airport after air-defense systems failed to intercept it.

At least eight people were injured.

On Tuesday, President Trump announced that the US had agreed to stop a weeks-long bombing campaign targeting the Houthis — in exchange for the Shia Islamists halting attacks on American ships in the region.

Some Israeli officials have quietly told The Post this week that they do not believe the Iranian proxy group will uphold their end of the bargain for long.

There was no carve-out in the deal for the Houthis to stop attacking Israel — one of America’s closest allies. Israeli officials also were not informed of the arrangement before Trump announced it to the world in the Oval Office.

After some pro-Israel US lawmakers and Israelis criticized the deal, US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee told local media this week that “the United States isn’t required to get permission from Israel to make some type of arrangement that would get the Houthis from firing on our ships.”

Still, the former Arkansas governor and longtime supporter of Israel insisted that the US still has the country’s back.

“Here’s what I can tell you, because I had a conversation with both the president and the vice president last night,” Huckabee told Israel’s Channel 12

“There’s 700,000 Americans living in Israel. If the Houthis want to continue doing things to Israel and they hurt an American, then it becomes our business.”
