One person hurt in Decatur shooting, police still investigating

DECATUR, Ill. (WCIA) — A shooting in Decatur Thursday night left a 29-year-old man in the hospital, police officials announced.

The shooting happened in the area of West Leafland Avenue and North Church Street. Lieutenant Scott Rosenbery said officers were dispatched at 8:06 pm. for a report of shots being fired and they found the victim at the scene with “apparent gunshot wounds.” The victim was taken to Decatur Memorial Hospital by ambulance; he is expected to be ok.

Rosenbery said officers located seven spent shell casings but reported no arrests. The investigation was assigned to a detective in the Criminal Investigations Division and is still active.
