Donnie Wahlberg knows that the Blue Bloods finale left some longtime fans with major questions about the Reagan family. The New Kids on the Block singer teased that the expansion series Boston Blue will give fans the answers they are seeking about beloved characters.

During an interview with Extra on Wednesday, May 7, Donnie, 55, was asked what he can share about what viewers will see in Boston Blue and if other members of the Reagan family will appear in the offshoot.

“I know a lot of things, but I’m not gonna say any of them!” he said. “I would just say that my first question when presented with this opportunity was, ‘Ok, where do we leave off with Blue Bloods and what does that mean going forward?’ So lots of things are happening at the end of Blue Bloods, and we will need updates on what’s happened since then, going forward. That’s all I can say.”

“I’m in a boyband. I’ve been in a boyband for 41 years,” Donnie joked, as Boston Blue costar Sonequa Martin-Green smiled beside him. “I don’t even look 41. I know what the fans want, and I will not let them down.”

Sonequa, 40, said she understands how important Blue Bloods was to a lot of people and wants to do the show justice in the series expansion.

“It’s important to people, and I’ve heard it from people, from out of their mouths for years, and so we honor that and we hope that people feel that from us,” the Walking Dead alum said.

“We respect and love our fans in all of our different endeavors, and this will be no different. We hope that they all come along,” Donnie added.

Still, Donnie said that he doesn’t really feel a lot of “pressure” from fans when it comes to making the new show.

“I would say I don’t feel pressure. I look at this in that context; it’s walking into it with the wrong mindset,” he said. “I think it’s an incredible opportunity. I love the Reagan family, viewers love the Reagan family, and it went away — and here’s an opportunity to bring it back. To carry on those traditions, to continue Friday nights at 10:00. It’s a tremendous opportunity and if I feel pressure instead of gratitude, I’m just not even thinking about it the right way.”

“I get it. I get the responsibility, and I take it very seriously, and I will do all I can as an actor and producer on the show to honor what we built over all those years,” he added. “And what an opportunity. How fortunate am I? Are we? To be here, to get to make great television on CBS, it’s a huge opportunity, and I’m very much looking forward to it, and I have a great partner who understands what it’s like to be part of a historic television program, and she’s been part of two with rabid fans who really care and want you to do it the right way when you venture off into another part of that universe. I feel good about what we’re doing and I think the audience will get what we’re doing when they see the show.”
