The 56-year-old from Yulee was killed when the plane crashed in a wooded area near Blackrock Road.
YULEE, Fla. — A man was killed Saturday morning in a plane crash in Yulee, Florida Highway Patrol confirms.
The man was identified by FHP as a 56-year-old who was from Yulee.
A report from FHP says that the Piper single-engine aircraft was flying near the Yulee Airport, in the 96060 block of Blackrock Road, Saturday at 9:35 a.m.
The plane crashed in a small wooded area nearby, “for unknown reasons.” Witnesses shared photos with First Coast News showing flames coming from the crash site.
The man was the only confirmed fatality.
The NTSB and FAA are on scene investigating.
If anyone witnessed the crash or has video, they should contact FHP.
All roads that were closed because of the crash are now open.
