Police said the victims were walking through the complex when several unknown people confronted them, opening fire.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Three people are recovering from gunshot wounds after they were shot by at least two people during a confrontation at an apartment complex on Jacksonville’s Westside late Sunday night, according to investigators with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

JSO investigators said officers responded to the 1200 block of Labelle Street around 11 p.m. Sunday to reports of a person shot.

They found a man in his late teens with a gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital with the non-life-threatening injury. Police said two more people were taken to the hospital by private vehicle with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators said they determined the three were walking through an apartment complex when several unknown people approached them. During the confrontation, at least two people opened fire. The victims weren’t able to provide a suspect description, police said.

This is still an active investigation. Anyone with information should call the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office via phone at 904-630-0500, go online to JSOCRIMETIPS@JAXSHERIFF.ORG, or call the Crime Stoppers hotline at 866-845-TIPS.
