The rapper was taken to a hospital in Bakersfield and treated for non-life-threatening injuries, according to reports.
Canadian rapper Tory Lanez has been rushed to the hospital following an altercation with another inmate at a California prison.Â
On Monday morning, Lanez, 32, was stabbed in the prison yard of the California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi, California, multiple outlets are reporting. Officials told the Los Angeles Times that the inmate stabbed Lanez with a homemade shank. The motivation for the attack was not clear.Â
The incident occurred about 7:20 a.m. Lanez – whose real name is Daystar Peterson – was then transported via ambulance to a hospital in nearby Bakersfield for treatment. His injuries are not life-threatening. The California Correction Institute and the Kern County District Attorney’s Office are investigating.Â
Lanez is currently serving a 10-year sentence after being found guilty of shooting rapper Megan Thee Stallion in the foot following a party at Kylie Jenner’s home in July 2020. He began serving his sentence in 2023 and is eligible for parole in July 2029.Â
Though Lanez is currently behind bars, that has not stopped him from recording new music. His album Peterson was released in March 2025, and he has teased another album release this summer.Â
