The body of a nine-year-old boy was found inside after firefighters extinguished the blaze.

A four-year-old girl and a seven-year-old girl died at Queensland Children’s Hospital from injuries they sustained in the fire.

A 34-year-old man, an 18-year-old man and an 11-year-old boy escaped from the fire but suffered minor injuries.

The woman, who is understood to be the children’s mother, was taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital under police guard.

She remains in a critical condition.

Police said there was an extensive investigation combining Child Protection Detectives, the Homicide Investigation Unit, and specialist forensic police.

Today, police charged her with three counts of murder (domestic violence), three counts of attempted murder, and one count of arson.

Last week, police said they were investigating whether the children had been doused in an accelerant before the fire tore through the home.

The woman will face court at a later date.
