JSO said it received video showing the man walking out of an apartment, appearing to have already been stabbed, and collapsing in the lobby.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man died early Tuesday morning after being stabbed multiple times at an assisted living apartment complex in Northwest Jacksonville, Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Steve Rudlaff told First Coast News.

At approximately 2:15 a.m., Rudlaff said patrol officers responded to the Morris Manor Apartments, located at 9050 Norfolk Blvd., in reference to the stabbing.

When officers arrived, Rudlaff said they found the unidentified man suffering from multiple stab wounds. According to Rudlaff, the man was between 70 and 75 years old.

Rudlaff said members of the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department then responded to the scene, and upon their arrival, the man was pronounced dead.

According to Rudlaff, video JSO received shows the man walking out of an apartment on the second floor, appearing to have already been stabbed, and collapsing in the lobby of the apartment complex.

Rudlaff further explained that officers detained a woman who was inside the apartment the man walked out of, and that she will be interviewed by an assistant state attorney at JSO’s headquarters. Although her identity was not released in addition to the man’s, Rudlaff said the woman is between 65 and 80 years old.

“At this time, we believe it was an isolated incident,” Rudlaff said.

Ronald Norris lives in the apartment complex and is friends with the woman who was detained. He said they go to church together every Sunday.

“She would do anything she could for you,” Norris said.

He said he did not see what happened, but he woke up to flashing lights outside of his apartment. He is now praying for everyone involved.

“You never know what may happen,” Norris added.

JSO is actively investigating the incident.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call JSO’s non-emergency number at 904-630-0500. To provide information anonymously, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
