Storm Team 3: Drier, hotter days are expected the rest of the week

Tuesday was drier across the Coastal Empire and Lowcountry, just as expected. A few showers and heavy downpours developed late in the afternoon and continued into the early evening though.

Conditions will be partly cloudy and mainly dry overnight. Temperatures will remain mild in the 60s to lower 70s. Coastal communities will stay warmer than inland.

The drier pattern will really take hold Wednesday as high pressure begins to take hold over the southeast. Temperatures will be very warm in the mid to upper 80s.

There is a low chance for a few isolated showers or storms in the afternoon. Most locations will miss out on the any meaningful rainfall.

Late-week and into the weekend will be hot. High temperatures will warm into the mid 90s. High humidity will make conditions feel hotter with heat index values in the mid and upper 90s.

River flooding will be an issue going into mid-week due to the heavy rain this past weekend. Flood warnings have been issued for portions of the Savannah, Canoochee and Ohooppee Rivers.

Our local rivers are not forecast to reach major flood stages, but river levels will rise over the next day or so.
