Halle Bailey’s career is on the rise, but the 25-year-old is experiencing some domestic issues a year and a half after welcoming her first child. Bailey was in court this week to request a restraining order against her ex and the father of her child. Content creator, DDG, and Halle Bailey dated for two years before splitting in 2024.
A judge grants Halle Bailey a temporary restraining order and the right to leave the country with her child
Halle Bailey has been granted a temporary restraining order against her former partner, DDG. Bailey submitted a mountain of evidence to prove that Darryl Dwayne Granberry, better known as DDG, has physically and verbally abused her following their October 2024 split. Bailey outlined several incidents in which DDG attacked her while their son was present. She also said the 27-year-old content creator entered her home without permission multiple times and sent her threatening messages.
According to TMZ, the restraining order covers Bailey and her toddler son, Halo. It requires DDG to stay at least 100 yards away from Bailey and their child, prohibits him from possessing firearms, and demands that he stop talking about her online. They’ll be back in court on June 6, 2025.
The restraining order isn’t the only legal issue a judge squared away for Bailey. According to several sources, a judge also gave Bailey the green light to take her son out of the country. The approval was critical for Bailey. She will begin filming Italianna in Italy in the coming months. It is unclear exactly when she is expected on set.
Halle Bailey and DDG’s relationship timeline
Halle Bailey and DDG were first spotted together in March 2022, but they began dating a few months before that. They were quickly inseparable. The duo was spotted together at the 2022 BET Awards and collaborated on DDG’s music video for “If I Want You” that year.
Their relationship progressed quickly, with the couple welcoming a son together in December 2023. Bailey and DDG spoke openly about their child, Halo, and how his birth shifted their perspectives. DDG even praised his then partner as a “great mom.” They were not built to last, though. In October 2024, less than a year after welcoming their son, they split. At the time, they insisted they were committed to parenting their shared child.
Two months after they announced their split, they were spotted together in social media postings, suggesting they had reconciled, much to the chagrin of Bailey’s fans. Despite appearing to attempt a reconciliation, they never announced they were back together and seem to be split for good now.
