Shannon Posada, the director of the Elizabethton/Carter County Animal Shelter, said that the shelter currently has around 60 dogs looking for new homes.

“We want to welcome everyone to come by and take a look at these animals,” Posada said. “You know, maybe it’s the next companion that may be a fit for your home, and that’s what we want. We want these guys. We can’t change their past, but we are definitely trying real hard to change their future and the homes that they go into now.”

The Elizabethon/Carter County Animal Shelter is located at 135 Sycamore Shoals Drive in Elizabethton.
